Essex school children find out about education overseas
On Wednesday 18 January, two of AidCamps' trustees, Bryan and Julie, paid a visit to a Primary School in Collier Row, Essex to talk to the children about AidCamps International and the work
we are doing to help improve education facilities in the countries we operate in. The invitation to visit the school came from a teacher who is also a supporter of AidCamps. He has encouraged the school to raise funds for AidCamps International through various
activities including a fancy dress day for the children and selling greetings cards.
Bryan and Julie spent an enjoyable assembly talking to the children about education in the developing world and showing them photographs of the conditions at the schools where AidCamps has worked from both before we arrived and after the projects have been
completed. The children were struck by the incredible differences between their own well lit, comfortable, clean, well equiped classrooms and the poor, dirty and sometimes dangerous conditions that children in the developing south sometimes face and that
AidCamps is trying hard to help eradicate. The children appeared thoroughly absorbed by the discussion and asked a whole range of thoughtful questions on the differences between the countries we work in as well as the practicalities of running AidCamps' projects.
Bryan and Julie were also impressed with the good behaviour of the pupils at the school.
We would like to thank the children and staff of the school for their support and wish them luck in their future fundraising efforts for AidCamps International.
If you have links to local primary schools who may be interested in raising money for good causes such as AidCamps International or its partners, we would be happy to organise similar talks or support you in talking about your own experiences as an AidCamps'
volunteer. Just contact the AidCamps International office.
Thanks!
Steve
