Next AidCamp
Community Based Children's Centre AidCamp
This AidCamp will finance the construction of a new Community Based Children’s Centre and new compost-toilet facilities at the village of M’teza. This is a particularly exciting project for AidCamps International, as it will be our first eco-friendly building project. The Centre will be built using ‘rammed earth’ for the walls and will have a thatched roof and limecrete floor. The building will be cool during the very hot weather and will also be waterproof during the rainy season. The limecrete floor will reduce jigger flea infestation in the children’s feet, without the need to resort to cement and concrete.
The local community will start the construction work before the beginning of the project. The volunteers will work closely with the villagers, helping with the finishing of the Children’s Centre and the construction of the toilet blocks, and learning new skills at the same time. There will also be plenty of opportunity to get involved with organising activities with the children.
