Not waving but ...

It's been an age since I did a post so I thought I'd put finger to key to update you all on what's going on with AidCamps at the moment.

As it is year end I'm trying to tidy up the accounts so I can send them to Sarah our Treasurer.  My ambition is to have her say that there's no amends to be made and everything is perfect and coded correctly.  I can dream I suppose ...

The Trustees have also looked at the card charges for donations made via the website and have been able to reduce the charges for donations made by debit/credit cards from 3.25% to 2.65% from 1 May 2013.

These charges were never intended to make money for the charity.  They were intended to cover the cost to AidCamps of WorldPay providing a secure payment facility on our website and we're pleased to be revising them down.

Alongside this necessary but not particularly exciting part of the role is carrying on recruitment for our projects in Sri Lanka in July and Nepal in November, as well as ensuring that we've got everything organised for the next AkzoNobel 'Building a Future for Africa' project in Cameroon in January 2014.

Currently we have 10 volunteers for our project in Sri Lanka and 11 volunteers for our project in Nepal.  If you're interested in either project then don't hesitate to contact me to sign up or to discuss any questions you may have. We can take a maximum of 15 volunteers in each Group.

With regard to the AkzoNobel project, they are hoping to build on the success of their project in 2012 and the 15 volunteers are just as keen and just as determined as the first Group was to raise as much money as possible to help the children of Cameroon receive a decent education.

Finally, I'm also making plans for our next school AidCamp in Sri Lanka in 2014 and organising some Independent placements for this summer.  Actually, the school AidCamp in 2014 is looking so popular with the students that we might have to run two projects, back-to-back: that's the kind of problem I like though!

So you can see, AidCamps is as busy and vibrant as ever (despite the economic climate - I feel like I need to qualify almost every optimistic comment I make with that phrase these days) and if you would like to be a part of that, in whatever capacity then don't hesitate to contact me.

Hiya, I am really glad I've found this inmrtfaoion. Today bloggers publish only about gossips and net and this is actually irritating. A good website with interesting content, this is what I need. Thank you for keeping this web-site, I'll be visiting it. Do you do newsletters? Can't find it.
