Defecha School AidCamp

Ethiopia - February 2019

Private project - fully booked!

This is a two-week, private AidCamp for members of the same family who have chosen the project to commemorate a very dear family member who sadly passed away towards the end of last year.

The project will run during February 2019 and aims to construct a two-room classroom block at a school in the village of Defecha just outside Gondar in Northern Ethiopia.

The school currently has 160 students (85 female and 75 male) and seven teachers. It consists of six classrooms, though a number are not in use.

The new classroom block will help to reduce the dropout rate after grade five, when students have to walk to a new school much further away from the village. The journey is particularly difficult for female students who are at risk of abuse when they return in the evening.

The new classrooms will also provide a safer, healthier and generally better environment for learning as they will be finished to a higher-standard than would otherwise be the case. For example, they will be less dusty than the traditional mud classrooms, therefore reducing the risk of respiratory problems.

This project is fully booked but similar private, group projects can be created on request. Please contact us for more information.
