Your Options

Where: we can arrange placements in almost all of our project countries. Whether you want to work and live in a city or in a remote village it is up to you, although not all options are available in all countries.

When: more or less any time you choose. Of course, your choice may be affected by practical constraints (e.g. no point in going out to teach during local school holidays), or the schedules of our partner organisations.

How Long: usually two weeks to three months. We don't recommend going for less than two weeks however if you want to go for longer than 3 months, talk to us.

The Work: your choice. You let us know what you'd like to do and we'll try and match that with the needs of our local partner organisations and their communities.

There's a wide range of possibilities of both skilled and unskilled work available. Here's a few examples in some of our host countries:

Cameroon
- Conservation roles at a biofarm
- Field (extension) work assistants
- Medical staff (inc. admin) for rural and urban medical centres
- Office administration for our NGO partner
- Teaching or teaching assistants     

India
- Working with children with physical or learning difficulties
- Teaching conversational English
- Nurse assistant trainers (nursing qualification required)
- Other types of vocational training for older children

Malawi
- Teaching or teaching assistants
- Environmnental or sustainability projects
- Nutrition

Nepal
- Tree nursery assistants
- Orphanage assistants
- Teaching or teaching assistants

Sri Lanka
- Children's resource centre assistants
- Teaching conversational English
- Deaf and blind children's resource centre assistants
- Social work placements (qualification required)

As well as working directly with our partners or local communities, there are also possibilities, by special arrangement, for research trips if you want to undertake some local research or studies as part of a degree. If you are interested in this type of placement, or any other, contact us.
